Destination #11 Cambridge

University of Cambridge is the #1 university in the world in probably almost every category. It consist of 30+ colleges, which I didn't know. The colleges are lovely!! We love the little town. Bryce and I went on a punt boat tour, after seeing people try to maneuver their rented punts, we were glad that we had a guide. The weather here has been the coldest so far, it's in the mid 50's.

Destination #10 Amsterdam

We were in Amsterdam for two short nights. We arrived at 2pm. Bryce didn't feel well from the day before in Ghent, so we just walked around town. The next day we went to Ikea, probably the only time we can do it on this trip, so I had to go. We got some unlimited ribs and it was actually ok, but nothing compared to Oklahoma Joe's. Went to the house where Anne Frank hid, that was pretty cool. And ended the night with a 90 minute boat tour of the canals.

It was a pretty relaxed and non-eventful stop. And FYI, Bryce is well now.

Destination #9 Belgium

Belgium is known for their beer and waffles. As tourists it would only be right that we try them both. We had the best waffles ever at Mokabon, they were light and crisp with powder sugar and whipped cream on top. Belgians also love their sweets, so we got some whippers and their speciality.

Bryce and our couch surfer host both had a +/- 1430ml glass of beer, yes it was all in one glass. They both had to give up a shoe for it. And I had a peach beer, it was girly and I liked it.

We went on a brewing tour, got a great view of Brugge and beer with the tour.

And I think there are more bicycles than people in Ghent. We bicycled around Brugge to see the wind mills and old town.

Train story

We left for our 3:25 Ghent fast train at 2:55 from our Paris hotel. It's supposed to take a little two hours for the fast train and a little over four hours for the slow train. Switching subway line took over 5 minutes, which was unexpected. The subway was super late, the opposite side had 3 different trains before we got ours. So it was super packed. After a few stops the power went out for a few minutes. Finally got to the train station at 3:30+ so we waited for the next slow train which left at 4:00. This had a connecting train in Lille, France, 8 minute delay. The train was going super slow as we got closer to Lille, so we arrived 12 minutes late and missed our connecting train. We waited again for next available train, which left at 8:00. Got a Kebab for the dozenth time since we had 45 minutes to kill. This was supposed to an hour ride, but no some train decided to derail at the Waregem station. We sat on the train for an hour waiting for them to get fixed. We finally arrived in Ghent around 11.

I guess when traveling with Bryce, something always has to happen, like missing our cruise for our honeymoon, getting diarrhea in China, getting sick or hurt before a wedding. Bryce makes travel interesting and memorable.

Destination #8 Paris

We were in Paris for 5 days. We saw Monet, two oval rooms filled with water lilies, it was beautiful!!! Saw Mona Lisa at the Louvre, she was pretty small. Went to Versailles for a day and saw the ridiculous palace. And of course we went up the Eiffel Tower.

We ate lots of baguettes and wine.

And we went to Hillsong Paris and didn't like it, it felt like a concert and had a very short message. Overall, we both really liked Paris.

Destination #7 Barcelona

We arrived to Barcelona by a night train, the train started at 9pm and arrived 11:30am. It was quiet more expensive that the China trains, but still a pretty good deal, waking up at your destination and no need for a hotel.

We went to Parc Güell, the ridiculous Sagrada Familia and walked Las Ramblas. From the outside, I didn't like Sagrada Familia at all, is pretty ugly to me, but the inside is pretty amazing.

We also saw the Batllo house, which is pretty amazing as well. A house without any straight lines. My favorite is the ceiling of the 2nd floor and the front. Bryce likes the attic and the front as well.

The temperature was around 65 and windy so the beach didn't really work out. So far our warmest days has been in the mountains, strange how things work.

We have not been keeping up with our gelato diet since we left italy, I guess it's the best for us since we wanted to lose some pounds on this trip.

Destination #6 Bern

We arrived in Bern in the evening and our hosts were so kind to provide us dinner. I've been wanting real chicken lately, and they grilled chicken quarters for us. They also have the coolest loft, built in the 17th century in old part of Berne. We've are loving couch surfing!

We spent our day going the bear pit and walking along the river, the old town and climbing the Münster of Bern. It was good to take a break from the big cities.
